SACRAMENTO, California — November 4, 2026. Measure M, a proposed parcel tax for Sacramento City Unified School District, has a narrow Yes majority in the county’s semi-final election-night count. A majority of the votes currently counted does not itself establish passage of a special tax measure.
What the district’s voters reported
Yes has 26,038 votes (51.55%) and No has 24,471 (48.45%), according to Sacramento County’s 1:25 a.m. report. The difference is 1,567 votes in the current count.
Why the legal threshold matters
The county identifies the measure as a Sacramento City Unified School District Parcel Tax Measure. The election-night table displays vote shares but not the measure’s complete tax provisions or approval threshold. Voters need to check the official ballot text and applicable law before concluding whether 51.55% would suffice. California58 is not describing this measure as approved.
District versus city
The eligible electorate is the school district, not everyone in the Sacramento metropolitan area or the entire county. School and city jurisdictions do not necessarily share borders. Valid ballots may still be added during canvassing.
